Valencia are already well advanced with their planning to replace striker Roberto Soldado, with Arsenal hitman Olivier Giroud on Los Che’s list.

Soldado is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who have had a bid of €26m plus €4m in add-ons turned down by the Spanish giants. However, a deal is not thought to be far away and with the player’s buy-out clause sitting at €30m, Spurs are expected to clinch Soldado’s signature sooner rather than later.

And that is the view in the Valencia boardroom too, where a shortlist of potential replacements for the Spain international has already been drawn up.

One of the names under consideration, according to Cadena COPE, is none other than France international Giroud, who plies his trade for Spurs’ rivals Arsenal.

Los Che admired Giroud even before he swapped Montpellier for Arsenal last summer and believe he could fit the bill when it comes to replacing Soldado.

The striker is presently happy at the Emirates Stadium, but with Arsenal looking at signing Luis Suarez from Liverpool, his opportunities for regular playing time in a World Cup year could be affected.

Were that to happen, Giroud may be open to sampling La Liga with Los Che, although Arsenal’s stance on the striker remains to be seen.

Also thought to be under consideration at the Mestalla are Internacional striker Fred, Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez and Real Zaragoza hitman Helder Postiga.
