New Liverpool striker Iago Aspas feels that the club’s rigorous pre-season training will help him to break into the Reds starting line-up for the upcoming campaign.

The Spaniard, along with the rest of the Liverpool squad, have been undertaking double training sessions for most days since the beginning of their pre-season schedule.

However, Aspas admitted that the Merseyside club will benefit in the forthcoming campaign because of the hard work put in by the squad in training.

The 25-year-old is also clear that pre-season in England is somewhat tougher than the same period in Spain.

"At the beginning it has been a little tougher than the sessions in Spain, but we know there is a little more running involved in this league”, he explained to his club’s official site.

"However, we do a lot of work with the ball and I think in that respect the sessions are very similar to back in Spain.

"I’m working hard every day to try and earn my place on the team sheet for the first game.

"From that moment on it’s all about doing as well as I can and gaining in confidence to continue to keep my place in the side."

Aspas is one of the four new signings for Liverpool this season, along with Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet and Luis Alberto.

The former Celta Vigo striker has already scored three goals for the Reds in their pre-season campaign.
