Saint-Etienne left-sided schemer Faouzi Ghoulam is wanted by both Italian outfit Torino and English giants Liverpool.

Torino have been pushing to sign the 22-year-old and, according to Sky Italia, have reached an agreement in principal with Saint-Etienne to snap up the Algerian this summer.

However, Ghoulam is stalling on the switch, and the reason is thought to be contact from Liverpool, who are considering the possibility of tempting him to Anfield.

The 22-year-old is a product of Saint-Etienne’s youth system and graduated to the club’s senior ranks in 2010.

Last season he helped Les Verts to challenge for a Champions League spot in Ligue 1 and, though they ultimately missed out, victory in the Coupe de la Ligue cushioned the blow.

It remains to be seen how long Ghoulam will hold off giving the green light to Torino.

The Italian side finished 16th in the 20-team Serie A last season and are aiming to steer well clear of trouble in the forthcoming campaign, something they believe Ghoulam can help with.

Ghoulam’s contract with Saint-Etienne runs until 2016.
