Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has denied that the club have received a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for defender Toby Alderweireld and midfielder Christian Eriksen.

It had been reported in the British press that Spurs had submitted an offer for the pair, who have been the subject of their own transfer sagas this summer.

Indeed, both Alderweireld and Eriksen have been consistently linked with Liverpool, while the former turned down the chance to join Norwich City earlier this summer and is currently the subject of a bid from Spartak Moscow, the latter rejected the chance to sign for Bayer Leverkusen.

Each have just 12 months' left to run on their respective contracts at the Amsterdam ArenA.

According to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Overmars has let it be known that no bid from Tottenham has landed for Alderweireld and Eriksen.

The door remains open for one or both players to leave Holland, however, each is looking for the right offer in order to quit the Dutch champions.

Both Alderweireld and Eriksen though have promised to sit down with Ajax if they are still at the club when the summer transfer window slams shut at the start of September.
