Fulham have begun negotiations with Ajax over on-loan midfielder Eyong Enoh but the transfer fee has already thrown up a brick wall according to the Algemeen Dagblad.

Enoh is understood to be keen to continue his stay with Fulham, where he spent half of last season and played nine Premier League games as well as two Under-21 clashes.

He had fallen out of favour at Ajax from last year onwards – despite being a regular in previous seasons – and Cottagers coach Martin Jol is eager to complete a permanent deal.

However, Ajax's asking price of €3.5m does not find favour with Jol despite the fact that Enoh is a full Cameroon international and also boasts UEFA competition experience.

The player's agent Stephan Brandli was quoted as saying: "I understand that the two clubs are busy discussing.

"Martin Jol, whom Ajax know well, will not pay out at the current price. Eyong has enjoyed his time at Fulham and would like to stay."

The 27-year-old has a healthy 98 Eredivisie games under his belt, and has two years left on his current Ajax contract.
