The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) have announced the appointment of Fatih Terim as the country's new coach – but the tactician will continue in his current role as Galatasaray boss too.

The TFF are banking on Terim, appointed on a one-year deal, to steer Turkey to the 2014 World Cup and, so desperate were they to secure him, have allowed him to combine the post with his club job.

"We thought we needed an experienced coach who is hungry for success and that would solve our problems and so we negotiated with Terim", said TFF president Yildirim Demiroren in a statement.

Terim replaces Abdullah Avci as Turkey coach.
