Gareth Bale could become a Real Madrid player within the next few hours provided he signs on the dotted line on a deal that could tie him with Cristiano Ronaldo on wages.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger's protracted saga appears at an end, with £93m plus Fabio Coentrao seemingly the accepted value.

According to Marca, it has now emerged that Bale could end up being given a six-year deal with a €10m annual salary.

It could put him at par with Ronaldo, Real Madrid's last record signing, even if the transfer fee has already eclipsed the Portuguese's.

The accelerated progress on Bale's transfer came about thanks to Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini travelling to Spain in the last few days.

Yesterday it was also believed that Real Madrid shirts with the name "Bale" printed on them were being made available in some shops in Spain.

And it seems only a matter of time before Spurs officially get confirmation on the money they have already earmarked to spend on a few of their own targets.

Anzhi Makhachkala's Willian and Roma's Erik Lamela are being looked up for a move, but the former has already completed a medical and should be confirmed soon.
