Nicklas Bendtner is still at Arsenal – and the Denmark international striker has vowed to give his all for the Gunners this season.

The goalscorer was wanted by several Spanish clubs and it was even reported in Spain yesterday that he had terminated his contract with the Gunners in order to move, while he had also garnered interest from other Premier League sides.

However, Arsenal held off letting Bendtner go and, when they could not land another striker, with Chelsea blocking a loan move for Demba Ba, refused to allow the Dane to leave.

That means Bendtner, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, is stuck at the Emirates Stadium.

But he is making the most of it.

"It is no secret that Arsenal and I agreed that I could leave the club this summer if all parties could agree", he said via a statement through International Football Management.

"An agreement was reached with more than one club this week, but Arsenal were not able to get another striker and therefore exercised their right to refuse a deal", he continued.

"I am obviously very disappointed because I was looking forward to a new challenge with a new club in English football."

Now Bendtner is keen to put the exit episode behind him and knuckle down at Arsenal, having spoken with Arsene Wenger.

"Many things have been said about my future.

"The truth is that I want to play football, that's when I'm happiest.

"And Arsenal is a great place for this profession.

"I feel very strongly about Arsenal FC and as a result of a positive talk with the manager, I look forward to working hard to find top form, do my best for the team and the manager, and meet our goals this season.

"I learned a lot from my loans at Sunderland and Juventus and I want to assure all Arsenal fans that I will do everything possible to contribute to what I believe will be a successful season for the club."
