Brazil full-back Wallace has admitted that Chelsea were keen to send him on loan to Dutch club Vitesse, but he vetoed the switch as he wished to join a more prestigious side.

Wallace landed at Stamford Bridge this summer, having been snapped up by Chelsea from Brazilian outfit Fluminense. It was soon clear that the 19-year-old would be shipped out on a season-long loan to gain more first team experience and avoid work permit complications.

And for Chelsea the club of choice were Vitesse, with whom they have a close relationship and at which Gael Kakuta, Patrick van Aanholt, Christian Atsu and Lucas Piazon are already on loan.

But Wallace was clear that he wanted to join a bigger club and so waited for the switch to Inter instead.

"I arrived in June thinking I couldn't be stopped, but then they advised me that it would not be possible because of my passport", he told Globo Esporte.

"The talk was about Vitesse. But I did not want to go to Holland, I wanted to go to a great club where I could shine and not hide at a club without tradition.

"So I waited."

The 19-year-old has so far appeared twice for Inter in Serie A, with both his stints coming from the bench.
