Werder Bremen have put themselves on alert over Chelsea outcast Kevin De Bruyne, with general manager Thomas Eichin holding talks with his agent over a winter loan deal.

De Bruyne spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, and despite the Bundesliga side's desires, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho forced a return.

It appeared Mourinho was keen to have the 22-year-old on board, but he recently expressed dissatisfaction over De Bruyne's performances.

Left out of Chelsea's Champions League squad, De Bruyne has become subject to winter-transfer speculation, and Eichin was only too happy to weigh in.

"Should Kevin be dissatisfied, we are happy to be the primary contact", Eichin told Bild. "I have contacted his agent and am aware of Kevin's situation at Chelsea.

"I know Kevin and when he's not playing, it's a big problem. We are waiting to see what happens in the winter. We are ready to pick him up, if it is possible."

De Bruyne has so far made three Premier League appearances for Chelsea but was recently confined to training with the Under-21 squad having been left out of the Champions League group to head to play Steaua Bucharest.

Mourinho's frustrations boiled over at a pre-Champions League press conference when asked about the player, causing an angry boss to prematurely exit the briefing.

De Bruyne's loan with Werder Bremen saw him play 34 times and he even managed 10 goals and as many assists.
