Alex Song has stated his case for a regular spot in the Barcelona side in style, by becoming the first player in La Liga this season to record a 100% pass completion rate.

Song started in Barcelona's 4-1 win at the Camp Nou over Real Valladolid yesterday, a victory which kept the Blaugrana top of La Liga with eight wins from eight games.

It was only Song's third league start of the season, a fact which has caused him to be widely linked with leaving Barcelona in January.

But the Cameroonian produced a display which will surely make coach Gerardo Martino think twice before letting him go.

Playing all 90 minutes, Song did not misplace a pass once, always finding his target.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez (14th and 64th minutes), Xavi (52nd minute) and Neymar (70th minute) were enough to secure victory for Barcelona after Javi Guerra had handed Real Valladolid a shock 1-0 lead with just eleven minutes on the clock.
