Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels may be looking at a switch to Barcelona with the German club agreeing to let him leave according to Bild.

Hummels was seemingly pursued by Barcelona all throughout this year, with the Catalan club "one out of two or three teams that could get me to consider a summer switch", in the words of the defender.

Hummels eventually stayed with Dortmund despite the transfer window chatter, but with Jurgen Klopp's side already identifying a potential successor, a move could be imminent.

It is believed that €35m will allow Barcelona to engineer the move, which means they will have an adequate replacement for stalwart Carlos Puyol.

FC Basel's rising star Fabian Schar is being watched closely by Dortmund's leaders, giving Hummels the chance to analyse his options for the future.

It is not yet known if Barcelona will attempt a winter move for Hummels, whose Dortmund contract expires in 2017.

However, Hummels is a tried-and-tested centre-back with 205 appearances for Dortmund and 18 goals as well.

The former Bayern Munich youth graduate made his first World Cup qualifier appearance for Germany for over a year last night, as Joachim Low's side beat Sweden 5-3 to clinch an automatic berth.
