Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has put his suitors on alert by admitting that he may well leave the Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

Casillas played second fiddle to fellow goalkeeper Diego Lopez at the club during the second half of last season under Jose Mourinho, while in the current campaign new Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has stuck with Lopez for La Liga clashes; Casillas has been played in the Champions League.

Such little first team football is not sitting well with the Spain number 1, especially in a World Cup year.

Now Casillas has been clear that he could leave Real Madrid, a club he has made more than 500 appearances for.

"If the situation doesn't change within three months, I'd say that I'll be looking to leave", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I have been here since I was a small boy but the day will come when maybe a decision will have to be made.

"In September I wanted to leave and I was going to tell the president that I wanted to go, but I decided to be a part of this squad and this club for a lot longer.

"I have always wanted to stay at Real Madrid but I'd like to play and compete more. I will fight to get back into the starting 11."

If Casillas does quit Real Madrid he will not be short of suitors, especially from England.

The 32-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, while Spain international Jesus Navas has tipped the custodian as perfect for Manchester City.
