Mario Balotelli and AC Milan are not looking the best fit for each other after all, according to former Juventus managing director Luciano Moggi.

Moggi, who also served with Napoli and Torino in administrative capacities, believes Balotelli has lost a lot of his zeal and blamed Milan's lack of team spirit.

Milan were beaten 2-0 by Fiorentina yesterday, while Balotelli has endured his usual smattering of controversy earlier this season.

Balotelli was sent off in the game against Napoli in September and then banned for three games for "intimidating the referee" and Moggi has seen enough signs so far.

"In recent months [Balotelli] has performed poorly," Moggi was quoted by Voetbal Primeur as saying. "It almost seems as if he is playing on his own.

"In my opinion, AC Milan is no longer the team that best suits him. They are not even a team. They bought players for the number 10 position, when they needed to get attackers.

"[For this] It is not [coach Massimiliano] Allegri, but those who have given him this team who should be fired."

Milan are currently 11th in Serie A and next face Barcelona in the Champions League this week.

Moggi's comments come just days after Milan vice-president and CEO Adriano Galliani denied any transfer was in the offing for Balotelli, who signed for the club in January.
