The English Football Association has charged Fulham defender Sascha Riether with violent conduct following Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester United.

The German appeared to stamp on Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj, but no action was taken by referee Lee Probert at Craven Cottage.

Now, after reviewing footage of the incident, the FA has opted to charge Riether and he has until 18:00 this evening to respond.

The FA said in a statement: "Fulham's Sascha Riether has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video during his side's game against Manchester United on 2 November 2013.

"The charge is in relation to an incident involving Riether and United's Adnan Januzaj which occurred in added time of Saturday's match at Craven Cottage."

The footage involving Riether and Januzaj will now be reviewed by a three-man panel of former referees, who will decide what action, if any, they feel the match referee should have taken had he witnessed the incident.
