Victor Valdes is ready to indulge himself in a little less pressure than the cauldrons of Camp Nou, with "discreet" contact with Monaco well under way according to former Barcelona player Ludovic Giuly.

Giuly, who also enjoyed two spells with Monaco in his playing career, revealed Valdes had been in touch about the potential move to the principality.

Valdes' contract with Barcelona runs out next year and he is ready to seek a different challenge, with Monaco the most likely recipients of his services.

"He needs to find something new and I think Monaco have contacted him several times discreetly", Giuly told beIN Sport.

"He's been at [Barcelona] since he was little. He wants to discover something calmer, and with less pressure.

"He has also spoken to me about it, and he is happy to have been contacted.

"We do not know the decision but there has been contact. I'll be very happy to see him in Monaco."

Valdes is believed to be ready to hold pre-contract talks in January, with a four-year deal being predicted from some corners.

However, things could become slightly complicated due to Monaco giving current number one Danijel Subasic a contract extension recently and Chelsea also in the picture for Valdes.
