Liverpool legend Jan Molby is of the opinion that the Merseyside club’s fresh legs due to their absence from European competition will tell in their bid to finish the season in a Champions League spot.

The Reds finished seventh in the Premier League table last term and hence missed out on a European berth.

However, Liverpool are determined to feature in the 2014/15 Champions League and Molby feels that the Anfield outfit’s lack of European commitments will be an advantage for the club to push for a top four finish this season.

The 50-year-old also identified Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho as the key players for Liverpool in their attempt to participate in the Champions League next season.

"I still firmly believe that the target from within Liverpool is to get into the top four and that challenge is very much on”, Molby explained to Liverpool’s official site.

"I'm not worried because I think Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge will keep our season going right into May.

"Arsenal this season have played 17 games and we have only played 11.

“At some stage that will show and the fact we've only got the FA Cup besides the league will benefit us."
