Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has showered praise on Philippe Coutinho and explained that the Brazilian brings an added dimension to the Reds’ squad.

The 21-year-old joined the Merseyside club from Inter Milan in January and has scored three goals in addition to providing eight assists in 19 appearances.

However, the attacking midfielder’s progress at Liverpool was hampered by a shoulder injury, which required an operation, this season.

But Coutinho made an impressive return to action in his side’s 2-0 loss against Arsenal on Saturday.

And Molby is certain that the former Inter Milan player will get better with time.

"I don't think I need to tell any Liverpool fans what Coutinho is capable of as he just brings something different", Molby told Liverpool’s official site.

"He's different to all the other midfield players that we have; he can go past people and see people early on. We saw it on a couple of occasions when he came on at the Emirates.

"It was obviously a very difficult situation when he came onto the pitch at a time when Arsenal were dominating, but he looked good in possession and I'm convinced he's only going to get even better."

Coutinho, whose contract with Liverpool runs until 2018, has a single senior cap for Brazil to his name and has also represented the nation at Under-17 and Under-20 levels.
