Benfica starlet Lazar Markovic has sent out a come-and-get-me plea to English Premier League clubs amid speculated interest from Chelsea.

Markovic moved away from his native Serbia this summer, swapping Partizan Belgrade for Portuguese giants Benfica in a switch which surprised many.

The forward had been strongly linked with Chelsea then and even admitted taking a trip to Stamford Bridge in February in something which was seen as a precursor to a deal being done.

Markovic has wasted little time shining in Portugal, scoring three goals and providing one assist in seven top flight games so far.

But despite just having joined the Lisbon side, his Premier League desire remains undimmed.

"Many people think that I am not fit to play in the English league", Markovic was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

"But I tell you that I love the Premier League and I think it may be a perfect challenge for me."
