Barcelona are considering moving for Groningen sensation Richairo Zivkovic as early as January as they bid to beat off competition for the young Dutch forward.

The Spanish champions recently sent a scout to check on Zivkovic's progress in Holland and appear to have received a glowing report from their talent spotter.

Now, according to Spanish daily AS, the Blaugrana are prepared to move quickly to ensure it is they who win the race for the 17-year-old.

Zivkovic has been labelled the "new Arjen Robben" in some quarters and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including English giants Liverpool.

The youngster's agent has confirmed there are sides in the running for his client and insisted that despite his tender years, Zivkovic is fully prepared to sample life outside Holland.

Groningen however will not be keen to lose Zivkovic, even if they could have their hand forced by lucrative bids coming their way from European powerhouses.

The 17-year-old is under contract with the Dutch side until 2017.
