MLS outfit Toronto FC are having discussions with Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o about a possible switch across the pond for the Cameroonian at the end of the season, according to Sports Illustrated.

Eto'o only joined Chelsea this summer, but is under contract at Stamford Bridge for just one season, meaning he would be free to move to Toronto in July if he does not renew his deal with the English side.

The Canadian club are looking to add two Designated Players in 2014 and bagging Eto'o would be a coup.

The striker is not alone on Toronto's hit-list however, with Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe and Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino also having been contacted by the MLS outfit.

However, Eto'o would be the ultimate capture for Toronto.

The striker has made his mark in European football at no less than Barcelona and Inter, while he more recently enjoyed a spell with Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia, during which time he was reportedly paid €20m per season.

Toronto are currently coached by former QPR and Tottenham defender Ryan Nelsen, who took over earlier this year.
