Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was present at the Romania v Greece World Cup playoff clash on Tuesday evening as he checked up on the form of Kostas Mitroglou.

The chase for the Olympiacos striker is quickly heating up, following his goalscoring exploits for both club and country, and Klopp was in the crowd at the Arena Nationala, according to Sport.ro.

Mitroglou managed to score a brace in the first leg of the playoff tie on home soil, sending Greece into the second leg 3-1 up on aggregate.

And he did not disappoint Klopp in the return, striking in the first half as Greece drew 1-1 in Bucharest to qualify for the World Cup.

The Dortmund coach is on the lookout for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

He is unlikely to have a free run at Mitroglou however, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter all having been linked with the Olympiacos hitman.

Olympiacos are not keen to sell the striker and have vowed to keep hold of him in January, but the existence of a release clause in his contract, thought to be around the €8m mark, could make matters difficult.
