Napoli manager Rafael Benitez will be happy to offer Alex Song his desire of Serie A football if a move from Barcelona becomes viable.

According to Sky Italia, Napoli are looking at securing Song from the Catalan side, this after suggestions he was ready to find regular football.

Manchester United, who underwhelmed in the last transfer market, were reported to have taken a liking for Song though that is yet to yield any approaches.

Song is currently a fringe player under Gerardo Martino – just seven games in La Liga – and it is believed he prefers the Italian game to any other.

Song only switched to Barcelona from Arsenal last year, and things have not gone as expected with the Spanish champions.

It also meant interest from other clubs in Italy with AC Milan and Inter Milan understood to be monitoring his situation.

It will most likely gear up towards a January battle between Napoli and the two Milan sides should Manchester United decide not to move for the 26-year-old.

With Song hoping to make Cameroon's World Cup squad – they qualified via the playoffs – a fresh start in January could do him the world of good.
