Belgian giants Standard Liege have confirmed that Arsenal are on the trail of striker Michy Batshuayi, even if they have no intention of selling the 20-year-old.

Batshuayi has been in impressive form for Standard Liege so far in the current campaign, hitting the back of the net 12 times in just 17 Belgian top flight games.

The hitman has also struck beyond domestic shores, firing home twice for his club in Europa League action, while also making his mark at international level with Belgium, three goals in five Under-21 games.

Such form has alerted a number of clubs to Batshuayi's talents, with Arsenal the latest to take a keen interest in Standard Liege's gem.

The club's president Roland Duchatelet told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws: "What's new is the interest of Arsenal in Michy.

"They are one of the many clubs who follow our striker.

"But we do not intend to let Michy go this season."

Batshuayi is under contract with Standard Liege until 2018, placing the Belgian side very much in the driving seat over his future.

However, there have been a number of financial concerns around Standard Liege, with the president of the club's fan clubs association warning of potential bankruptcy.
