Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone wants to sign Pepe Reina after conceding he might lose Thibaut Courtois after this season, according to Marca.

Courtois has spent the last two years on loan at the club providing safe hands in between the post for the 'Rojiblancos'. The ex-Genk goalkeeper has won much praise for his brilliant efforts during his loan spell from Chelsea.

Reina was close to joining Barcelona last summer, but later joined his mentor and compatroit, Rafael Benitez, at Italian Serie A side Napoli. The former Villarreal glovesman has a special clause negotiated by his agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, that makes him available for a bargain amount of €5m at the end of the season.

The ex-Barcelona goalkeeper has regained his confidence between the posts and has attracted a lot of interest from his homeland, including Atletico Madrid who are bracing themselves for the apparent departure of Courtois.
