Miralem Pjanic has opened the door for his countryman Edin Dzeko to join him in Serie A, explaining he knows the Bosnian wants to play more first team football.

Dzeko has been linked with quitting current club Manchester City, where he is finding securing a regular starting spot a tough ask.

Serie A clubs have long been admirers of the hitman, from as early as his days with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

And Dzeko's international team-mate Pjanic believes the striker would do well in the Italian top flight and perhaps find what he is looking for.

"I'm in touch with him, he's a player who aspires to play more and feel more important", the Roma midfielder told Sky Italia.

"He is a quality player who would do well in Italy.

"He's a City player, but is a great striker and he'd do well in Italy."

Dzeko has started just five Premier League matches for Manchester City this season, but has scored three goals.
