Roma will look to ward off interest from Manchester United for Miralem Pjanic by offering the Bosnian a wage hike up to an annual €3m plus bonuses.

According to Sportmediaset, Pjanic will be given his contract renewal soon – with some reports suggesting a five-year extension.

Pjanic's current deal expires in 2015, and he is seen as a key part of Roma's future.

The attacking midfielder has already racked up 15 appearances and four goals in what has been a high-flying season for Roma.

Pjanic himself is keen to stay on at Roma, especially after interest from Tottenham Hotspur also reared its head.

"I'm very happy. I know the club," Pjanic had said in early November. "I'm open to extending it."

The 23-year-old continued his good form with Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, helping the country to its first World Cup as an independent nation with three goals and six assists in eight qualifiers for Brazil 2014.
