Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes Chelsea are delighted with their decision to loan young striker Romelu Lukaku to the Toffees, as his is damaging the chances of their Premier League title rivals while playing the right brand of football.

Lukaku has been in superb form for Everton this term, with Chelsea taking the view that the Belgian's development would be helped by playing regular first team football under Martinez, week in, week out, at Goodison Park.

"He can’t play against them and the other week he helped take two points off Arsenal and three points off Manchester United.

"That is a big compliment to us and it is very important for us."

Everton are in fine form in the Premier League, helped by Lukaku, currently sitting fifth with 31 points from 16 games. That is just two less than Lukaku's parent club Chelsea, who are third.
