The race for promising Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep is heating up, but the French side are yet to receive an official offer from Arsenal for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal recently jumped to the front of the queue for Ntep by contacting Auxerre to register a formal expression of interest in the starlet.

However, the Gunners are not alone in their admiration for Ntep, with Marseille, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes, Lille and Saint-Etienne keen to keep the talent within France.

But according to French outlet Le 10 Sport, it is Arsenal and Roma who are leading the race for Ntep and cutting the most serious suitors at present.

Arsenal have repeatedly scouted Ntep in recent months, while Roma, under French coach Rudi Garcia, are alive to the striker's undoubted potential.

Ntep has been amongst the goals for Auxerre in Ligue 2 this term, hitting the back of the net six times in 15 games.

He has also impressed for France's Under-21s, scoring five goals in five games in qualifying for the European Championship.
