Ntep has impressed both in Ligue 2 with Auxerre this season, but also at international level where he has regularly found the back of the net for France's Under-21s.

The 21-year-old's performances have seen a number of clubs check on his progress, including Marseille, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes, Lille and Saint-Etienne, who are all keen to keep Ntep within French football.

But according to Tutto Mercato, it is Arsenal who are in pole position to capture Ntep, with a €6m bid on the table to take him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.

Arsenal are keen to get a deal for the young striker done and dusted, with Roma also sniffing around.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may even be prepared to sign Ntep and then loan him back to Auxerre for the 2014/15 season, something which could find favour with the French side.

Ntep's current contract at Auxerre runs until the summer of 2015.
