Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen has enquired about the availability of Brondby striker Simon Makienok.

Meulensteen, who recently took over from Martin Jol in charge of the Premier League strugglers, is keen to add to his squad in the winter window as he aims to steer the Cottagers away from the drop zone.

And Makienok, who rejected a switch to Russian Premier League side Terek Grozny in the summer, has fallen onto Fulham's radar.

According to Danish daily BT, Meulensteen has made contact with the Danish giants to check whether Makienok would be available.

Brondby's response was to slap a £3.3m asking price on the 23-year-old.

It remains to be seen whether Meulensteen will now lodge a bid with Brondby, who he bossed between 2006 and 2007 before joining Manchester United as first team coach.

Makienok has found the back of the net six times in ten Superligaen games so far this term.
