Swansea City first-team coach Alan Curtis has lauded Wilfried Bony following the striker’s recent goalscoring form.

The Ivory Coast international, who grabbed a brace in the Swans’ 3-2 defeat to Chelsea on New Year’s Day, followed that up by scoring a late winner against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday, which helped his side to taste victory at Old Trafford for the very first time.

Bony is Swansea’s costliest signing, having joined the club from Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem for £12m during the summer transfer window.

And Curtis is impressed with the 25-year-old, who has already scored 13 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for Michael Laudrup’s side.

The first-team coach also believes that Bony has finally settled into the squad and is fully fit after missing out on pre-season with Swansea.

“It took him a while to settle in”, Curtis explained to his club’s official site.

“He scored a lot of goals last season, but he missed out on pre-season with us so he was playing catch up.

“The fact he came for £12m meant people expected a lot from him.

“But he was just short of fitness and throughout the season we have worked on that.

“His strength and power are quite frightening – he is a real beast of a man.

“He already has 13 goals this season and his latest one was a cracking goal.”
