Juventus have not been put off by Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood's desire to keep hold of Erik Lamela this month and are instead willing to launch an approach for the Argentine in the summer.

The Italian champions are continuing to sound out Lamela's representatives over a possible return to Italy for the winger in June.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are firm fans of Lamela and have now identified him as a potential summer recruit after the door on snapping him up this month was slammed shut.

Lamela joined Tottenham last summer from Roma, earmarked as a replacement for Gareth Bale, who signed for Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has struggled to live up to expectations at White Hart Lane, but his stock has not been diminished in Italy, where he excelled with the Giallorossi.

Lamela has made nine appearances in the Premier League for Spurs this term, but has yet to register a goal for his new club.

His contract at Spurs runs until 2018.
