The mystery club to have submitted a concrete offer for in-demand Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep are believed to be Rennes.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, the Ligue 1 side have offered €4m for the 21-year-old, an amount which is not considered good enough by Auxerre.

Auxerre's president confirmed a bid for Ntep yesterday and had struck a confident note over a deal potentially taking place, even though they are believed to want double the amount Rennes have bid.

Other suitors could potentially enter the race, with Arsenal and Roma having been linked with the striker and Ntep himself finding talk of the pair wanting him flattering.
