Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell Etienne Capoue to Napoli, but want more than the €9m the Italian club offered for the midfielder.

Napoli are hunting for a defensively minded midfielder and sent a bid over to White Hart Lane for Capoue, which was quickly rejected by the English Premier League outfit.

However, according to Sky Italia, Spurs have indicated to Napoli that they are willing to part with the midfielder.

But Rafael Benitez's men will have to increase their bid should they want to land Capoue.

Spurs only signed Capoue last summer, snaffling the 25-year-old up from Ligue 1 side Toulouse.

He has not though made a splash at White Hart Lane and the Premier League club are prepared to consider a quick sale.

Capoue has made eight appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham so far, while he also featured four times for the club in the Europa League.

The midfielder's contract at Spurs runs until 2017.
