Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc was left "disappointed but not disillusioned" after exiting the Coupe de France at Montpellier's hands in the sixth round.

PSG were beaten 2-1 at the Parc des Princes yesterday meaning Blanc's chances of landing the quadruple in his first season in charge have gone.

Edinson Cavani had equalised for PSG after Daniel Congre gave Montpellier the lead, but it was Victor Montano who decided the affair in the 69th minute.

"I do not have to blame the players for much", he said post-match. "But this is the cup and Montpellier had reason to believe.

"It is a disappointment, but it is not disillusionment.

"We did not do what we were supposed to do and were punished."

Blaise Matuidi, who missed a big chance to score in the first half after Lucas Digne had an effort ruled out for offside, felt the result belied PSG's presence in the game.

"This defeat was not necessarily deserved, even if we did not play a very good game", he said. "But the goal is to win more than one title, and it is still possible."
