Arsenal may launch a late deadline-beating swoop for Benfica forward Rodrigo.

According to Portuguese daily O Jogo, the Gunners have been in touch with the Lisbon club to enquire about exactly how much money would be needed to secure the services of the 22-year-old.

Arsenal are aiming to bolster their attacking power before the January transfer window closes and have also been strongly linked with Schalke attacking midfielder Julian Draxler.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a firm fan of Rodrigo and has been tracking his progress at Benfica, something which will have caused him to notice the current campaign is fast becoming the Brazil-born forward's best ever.

He has already found the back of the net seven times in just 12 Primeira Liga games for Benfica, while he also chipped in with a goal in two Champions League group stage appearances.

The Real Madrid youth product has experienced English football before, having enjoyed a brief loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in the 2010/11 campaign.

Under contract until 2019 in Lisbon, Rodrigo has chosen to represent Spain at international level and helped the country to last summer's European Under-21 Championship.
