Lazio could be gazumped by Chelsea after trying to drive down the price of young Croatian midfielder Mario Pasalic.

The Serie A side have been holding talks with the 18-year-old's club Hadjuk Split, but according to Sportitalia, lowered a prior €2.5m bid to €2m.

This annoyed Hadjuk Split, who have now sent representatives to London to hold talks with Chelsea over Pasalic.

The Blues are known to have been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old and may be prepared to pay Hadjuk Split more for the promising midfielder than Lazio, leaving the Italian outfit out in the cold.
