Tim Matavz's proposed move to Rubin Kazan is under a cloud after the striker failed his medical according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.

The PSV Eindhoven player had been close to moving to Russia in a reported €8m deal, after receiving permission to undergo the examination earlier this week.

However, it is believed a knee problem has put paid to those hopes, though his agent feels a deal is still possible.

Russia's winter transfer window will close only in late February, which gives Matavz time to find a solution.

"It is a matter between the clubs and Tim," his agent was quoted as saying.

"We are waiting to see what they decide. There are many possible solutions, and maybe it's still on.

"We have requested a statement from an independent physician, Dr Watson. He confirmed that Tim could play professional football."

Matavz has become out of favour at PSV this season thanks, in part, to injury and was on just 11 appearances in the Eredivisie.
