Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has too much respect for Barcelona and Real Madrid to ever plot a sneak transfer attack on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

PSG's financial strengths have always made them prime for being linked with the duo, especially Messi.

The Argentine was understood to be subject to a €250m offer from PSG, but that was quickly denied by all and sundry at Barcelona.

With Al-Khelaifi aiming to retain the Ligue 1 title, and eyeing a Champions League crown, the focus will always be on the next big signing.

However, the Qatari told Catalan daily Sport: "The Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo stuff is media created. It's good for the media but it is not good for the clubs – for Real Madrid or Barcelona or us.

"Messi and Cristiano are comfortable in Barcelona and Madrid. I respect these two clubs and have a good relationship with their presidents.

"I respect them a lot. If I were looking for a player from either of the two clubs, I would go talk to the president. Messi and Cristiano are happy at their clubs. And I respect that."
