Manchester United starlet Michael Keane has joined Championship club Blackburn Rovers on a loan for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old defender has had experience of the division having served as a loanee for Leicester City and Derby County and will now make his debut for the Rovers’ in their Championship game against Burnley on Sunday.

Injury-hit Rovers were desperate for a centre-back, with skipper Grant Hanley down with a calf injury and, having sold Scott Dann to Crystal Palace, Keane will make it straight to the team; boss Gary Bowyer is delighted to have the youngster.

"He is highly sought-after", Bowyer told Blackburn's official website.

"He has had a good education with Manchester United and he has got experience already in the Championship with his time on loan at Leicester and Derby – two top clubs.

"We are delighted to have been able to secure his services until the end of the season", he added.

The England Under-21 international, who has made three League Cup appearances for the Red Devils, might also come up against younger brother Will Keane, out on loan to QPR, when Rovers host the Loftus Road team in April.
