Liverpool loanee Conor Coady feels his temporary stint with Sheffield United this season will boost his prospects at Anfield.

The midfielder, who initially joined the Blades on a six-month loan deal during the summer transfer window, twice extended his stay with the League One outfit and will remain at Bramall Lane until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has scored four goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for Sheffield United and also helped the club to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley.

However, the youngster, who admitted that he will find it tough to break into Liverpool’s starting eleven next term, believes his stay in Sheffield has proven highly beneficial so far.

"It's going to be tough but this season will help me massively,” he told Liverpool’s official site.

"I had a couple of seasons playing U21 football and this was the season for me to go out and learn my trade. To come to a club like this has been fantastic.

“I couldn't ask for any more. When you go on a loan move, you want one like this.

"The manager and the staff at Liverpool all take an interest in how I am getting on at Sheffield United.

“They will often text or call, and it is nice to know that I am still in their thoughts. They haven't just sent me out and left me.

"As I say, it's up to me now to prove I can cut it. That's what I am aiming for at Wembley, and in the remaining league games as well. It's a big challenge for me, but I'm well up for it."

Coady, who has represented England at various youth levels, has just two senior appearances for Liverpool to his name.
