David Moyes has explained that Manchester United are aspiring to be like Manchester City after watching his side blown away by the Citizens at Old Trafford last night.

Manchester City were sharper from the off against Moyes' men, with slick passing moves cutting Manchester United open, as quickly as the first minute when Edin Dzeko put the visitors ahead.

Dzeko scored again in the second half while Yaya Toure then sealed a comprehensive victory at the death.

And Moyes was pulling no punches when assessing his side, explaining that he is aiming to make the Red Devils as slick and good a unit as their local rivals.

Moyes explained to Sky Sports: "We didn't start the game well, in the first 15 minutes they were very good at that.

"They were very good but we grew into the game and up into the second goal we had a fighting chance. On the night we just didn't do well enough.

"I think we have played a very good side, it's the sort of standard and level we need to aspire to get to at this moment in time. I think we need to play better.

"We need to come up a couple of levels ourselves because at the moment we are not there."

Manchester United now slip to 15 points behind Manchester City, with the Citizens up to second while Moyes' men sit seventh in the Premier League table.
