Bundesliga outfit Freiburg have opted not to push to sign Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old is on loan at Freiburg from Arsenal and there had been speculation he could remain with the German club beyond the end of this term.

But according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Freiburg have not been convinced by Coquelin and will be returning the midfielder back to Arsenal.
The Gunners are tipped to now look for another loan option for Coquelin, as they bid to hand the starlet more first team experience.

Under contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2015, Coquelin has failed to carve out a regular starting spot at Freiburg.
Indeed, the midfielder has made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga for Freiburg, with only nine being starts.
