Thierry Henry has welcomed Arsenal booking a friendly against his team, New York Red Bulls, for this coming summer and joked it has erased his doubts about how far Arsene Wenger likes to travel.

Arsenal announced today that they will lock horns with the Red Bulls in a pre-season friendly on 26th July and it is a game that will bring them face-to-face with a club legend in the form of Henry.

The former striker could not be happier that his old club are heading across the pond and told Arsenal's site: "I was obviously over the moon and excited [when I heard].

"Not really for me, but for the fans to be able to see Arsenal here and for the guys in the team. To be able to play against Arsenal doesn't happen often and hopefully it's going to be good day."

And for Henry, it is about time Wenger took his side to the United States, with the striker having started to believe in a lack of travel desire from his old manager.

"Everybody knows how much I love Arsenal. When I found out we were going to have them here to play in New York, for some reason I was doubting it because Arsene was always the guy not wanting to go too far away from Europe until recently, when they've been going to Asia", he added.

"I said to myself, ‘Why don't they come to the US?'. They were the only team from the Premier League that didn't come."
