Former Chelsea player-manager Ruud Gullit has claimed that Louis van Gaal will replace Tim Sherwood at Tottenham Hotspur after the World Cup.

Van Gaal, who has made plain his desire to work in the English Premier League, stands down from his post as Holland coach after the World Cup, to be replaced by Guus Hiddink.

And Gullit claims he knows that a deal has been agreed between Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and the former Bayern Munich coach.

"I know for sure he was at Van Gaal's house, the [Spurs] chairman", Gullit told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I think it's a done deal, but you never know", he added.

Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane in December, following the Portuguese's sacking.

He has struggled to push the side into the Premier League top four, losing key matches and exiting the FA Cup to bitter north London rivals Arsenal.

And speculation over whether Sherwood will still be in charge next season has been rife.
