Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that the Gunners are interested in signing Iker Casillas from Real Madrid, while he has spoken to the goalkeeper about a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Casillas lost his regular starting spot in La Liga for Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho last season and it is a situation that has continued into the current campaign, despite the Portuguese being replaced on the bench by Carlo Ancelotti.

The custodian's situation has alerted a number of clubs to his fringe status, including Arsenal, Cazorla claims.

"I’ve told him [I want him to join Arsenal], but so far he has just been curious about my experience in England", the Spanish midfielder told Sport360.

"His situation is very complicated, but he has to make a decision.

"Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal, but I think that it would be very difficult to leave Real Madrid because of what the club represents.

"He knows what he has [at Real Madrid] and what he could find at another club."

Casillas is expected to feature as Spain's number 1 at the summer's World Cup, something which is likely to place any transfer developments on hold until after the finals in Brazil.
