Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood is delighted after his side’s 5-1 victory over Sunderland at White Hart Lane last night.

Lee Cattermole’s opener in the 17th minute did no good for the Black Cats as a brace from Emmanuel Adebayor along with strikes from Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Gylfi Sigurdsson saw Spurs clinch an important three points and regain sixth spot in the Premier League table.

Sherwood, who was handed the reins of the north London club following the departure of manager Andre Villas-Boas in December last year, is happy with the way his team bounced back and performed on the field.

“I thought we were fantastic and I’m delighted for the players and the fans, it’s been a great night for us”, the boss was quoted as saying by the club’s official site.

“We had the setback of giving the goal away but we bounced back well. The front three were fluid, we moved the ball around well, controlled the game and could have scored more goals.

“It could have been a sticky game for us. They never give up, but we dominated from start to finish”, the 45-year-old added.

The Liliywhites are just two points ahead of seventh-placed Manchester United in the league table and will be looking to cement their position for a Europa League spot when they take on West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and then host Fulham next weekend.
