Jose Mourinho wants to be reunited with Luka Modric and could launch a swoop for the Real Madrid midfielder when the transfer window opens again.

According to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones, Mourinho is keen on the Croatian, who he took to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

The Chelsea manager rates the Croatia international highly and is believed to want to add him to his squad in time for next season.

But Modric has continued to be a key figure at Real Madrid this season, now under Carlo Ancelotti, and has made 29 appearances for Los Blancos in La Liga.

The 28-year-old has also cut a happy figure in Spain and recently admitted a desire to end his career at Real Madrid.

Modric said in February: "I want to stay here for as many years as possible and, if it's possible, finish my career here.

"I really enjoy my life in Spain. Madrid is a big and beautiful city with great parks where I like to walk."
