UEFA president Michele Platini is relishing at the prospect of Zinedine Zidane becoming AS Monaco manager and believes it would be a great start to the Frenchman’s managerial career.

Zidane is one of the top names in the managerial wishlist for Monaco next season and Les Rouges et Blancs are keen on the French legend taking over the reins of the club from Claudio Ranieri.

Platini has reacted to the rumour of Zidane to Monaco with delight and said it would be a great way for the World Cup winner to start his managerial career.

"If he wants to coach, it's good to start with Monaco, which is a good club with means. He spent one year with Carlo Ancelotti at Real, so he is ready”, the European Championship winner told L’Equipe.

Monaco's owner, Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, is thought to be unhappy with the performance of Ranieri and believes the team have failed to perform under the Italian even though huge investments were made to build a good squad.

Monaco are second in the Ligue 1 table on 66 points, 13 points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain who are on 79 points.
